I am in the current phone book, as I've just changed over about 2 months ago.
I don't know if I will be when the new book comes out. This is my PERSONAL phone though, so it doesn't really matter. Anyone who "should" have my home number has it, so....
I don't know how VOIP.ms customer service is, as I haven't had to use it yet. They have all the info on their webpage.
If you do go with a voip service, I highly recommend the Siemens 6 series base and handset. You can add more handsets that just plug into a wall outlet. The base plugs into your router or DSL modem or Wireless router.
The drawback is that when you're downloaded torrents or something, the phone sound quality can be a little off. You would solve that by subscribing to the premium service and then back to "value" which is done on their site, and applies to your account immediately and in real time. Between going with Teksavvy dry loop DSL (no phone line associated with the Internet) and Voip.ms I'm saving over $60 CDN per month on home internet and phone.
I still do have a Bell AND Rogers cellphone. Still trying to make up my mind as to which service I will ultimately go with. They both have their pros and cons.
